Disassembly commenced and shorty there after a host of problems were encountered. For instance, balsa combings were rotten and fell off the plane when the cloth was removed. The cotton cloth covering the wings and ailerons had shrunk to the extent it was causing the trailing ribs to bend downwards. The wing struts and landing gear were extremely corroded requiring extensive repairs. One safety of flight item was found while disassembling the control column. The mechanical stop on the control wheel sprocket was severely bent and cracked, almost broken in half. The throttle quadrant was extremely loose on the instrument panel and was just worn out.
